The Soundview Family YMCA and the Guilford Yacht Club (GYC) are sponsoring sailing lessons for children ages 8 - 16 at the Guilford Yacht Club. Boats may be owned, barrowed or rented. The GYC does not have boats available, however several members have agreed to loan their boats for use during the program. Rental costs per sailboat is $50.00 for 2 weeks based on availability.

• The boats used must be "self rescuing" or have adequate   bailing equipment on board.
• All boats must have a 15' bow painter (line) for towing.
• Properly wearing one's PFD is required at all times while on   the water during class sessions.


 

 


Instructors are YMCA, Red Cross certified instructors. Students successfully completing the course will be awarded a Certificate of Completion.

Classes are 3 hours per day, Monday - Friday for one or two consecutive weeks. We will offer a morning session
(9 - 12pm) or an afternoon session (1 - 4pm). Each session is limited to a maximum of eight boats. Enrollment is on a first paid basis.
